Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the types of transportation accidents in the elderly over 60 years of age in the Jeonbuk region using raw data from an in-depth survey data of discharge injury. For the analysis data, 857 residents of the Jeonbuk region aged 60 years or older were selected as the final study target data among the raw data of the discharge injury survey data by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for 5 years from 2016 to 2020. The main research results are as follows: First, the correlation between the characteristics of the research subjects and the types of transport accidents was highest in passenger cars(333 people), bicycles and motorcycles(151 people), and pedestrians(150 people). Second, in the correlation between the main diagnosis of the research subjects and the types of transportation accidents, the diagnosis of neck damage was the highest in cars, shoulder and arm and elbow injuries in bicycles and motorcycles, and ankle and foot injuries in pedestrians. Third, the correlation between hospitalization days according to the type of transport accident was highest in the order of bus(26.33 days), pedestrian(24.31 days), and bicycles and motorcycles(17.09 days). Based on these research results, systematic and effective policy measures to reduce injuries and deaths due to transport accidents in a situation where the number of elderly is continuously increasing were discussed.
